What is the best way to demo voice AI to a business owner so they buy?
Most business owners do not care about features or technology. They care about results, so skip the feature tour and get quickly to the moment they hear the AI answer the phone as their own business.
- Go to Agents, click Create an agent, and choose Start from a website.
- Ask the business owner for their website and type it in. While the agent builds, make about twenty seconds of small talk and ask where their leads or customers come from. The answer shows where AI fits: website visitors mean a chat widget and an AI-answered phone number on the site, social media means social posting, social management or comment-to-DM automations, and Google Maps means review generation.
- When the agent is built, show the facts and FAQs it pulled from their website, skip everything else, and click the Test button.
- Run only two turns: you say something, the AI replies, you say something else, the AI replies. Role play as the owner's customer and ask what their real customers would ask (for a window tinting business, ask about tint levels or whether it can be done on a truck; for an HVAC company, say the AC is blowing air but it is not cold).
- Mute the AI and ask the owner what they think.
If they are excited, stop selling and go straight to pricing. If not, handle the objection. If they dislike the voice, there are more than 10,000 voices to choose from, or you can clone their own voice. If they want exact control over what the AI says (for compliance or because they are particular), show the scripted part of the workflow, for example a simple node that asks whether the caller wants sales or support and routes them.
Do not oversell. Learn when to stop talking. A live demo on the call gives the highest close rate because you can answer questions, stay in control of the conversation and collect payment while they are excited. A self-serve demo, where the owner enters their website and the AI agent calls them, is good for capturing the lead but not for showing what the system can do, because business owners are usually not good at role playing and may freeze or try to break the AI.
